bumper to bumper on the james lick

this one's for my papa! when i was growing up we lived south of the bay area in a very very rural town. (i'm talking hick, folks.) but for some reason (maybe because he was happy he wasn't in it), my dad always listened to the traffic report for the bay. and every afternoon you could count on the man in the helicopter calling in to say that it was "bumper to bumper on the james lick." that's a big freeway they have up there. i remember driving on it once with my dad and he was so happy it wasn't rush hour!

anyhow, i was thinking about traffic and how long it takes to do anything in this country and i thought i'd show you a picture of our "traffic." not that there aren't cars out there too, but this really does make it hard to drive over 11 miles an hour!!

And why it takes our staff 5 hours to do something that should only take 1/2 hour.

ah yes gail, time in third-world countries is in an entirely different dimension. "takes our staff 5 hours to do something that should only take 1/2 hour" i've had such experiences. it's an adventure!

good 'ol james lick. i always pictured a guy named james licking the road and i never understood why he would want to do that. but when the traffic is bumper to bumper that's the safest time to do it i guess.
